Pilots & the FAA
If you are a pilot who has been arrested for a DUI, get your copy of the FAR's, and go to section 61.15(e). We will need to alert the Civil Security Aviation Division of the FAA in Oklahoma City, OK within 60 days of your DUI arrest.
Also, we will need to discuss your next "Medical" and what you should tell your physician regarding alcohol counseling, if any, that you might have to do out of your case.
At your next medical,. pay attention to "Question 18(v)". You will need to fully detail the suspension, conviciton, and/or other counseling received. In speaking with FAA investigators, they are mainly concerned about full disclosure and honesty so the FAA can fairly evaluate a pilots future risk.
