OUR OHIO DUI DEFENSE PRACTICE METHOD
The Attorneys - what sets Koffel + Jump apart from most other lawyers in this field is the fact that we put more brain power on every single DUI case than any other firm in Ohio. There are a minimum of 2 attorneys and 2 paralegals that will work on your case. By the time your case is done, 8 different people will have done something to advance your case.
The Attorneys execute on the cases in court every day. Attorneys Tod Brininger and Steve Fox work jointly on 90% of the DUI cases. The remaining cases are handled individually. The Attorneys cannot take phone calls due to the fact each of them spends nearly 40 hours each week in court.
Brad Koffel is the Managing Partner of the Defense Group. Mr. Koffel meets every single new client, listens to the Client's desired goals, and sets forth a protocol to achieve those goals. Starting with vehicle, insurance, and driving privilege matters through discovery and motions to suppress issues, Mr. Koffel will evaluate the case for each client.
Mr. Koffel then manages each case, each day's court appearances, and tasks that need to be accomplished on each client's case. Mr. Koffel, Mr. Fox, and Mr. Brininger meet every client in court and then back in the office for routine office consultations.
It does cost more to have this horsepower, but we have found time and time again, that 2-4 sets of eyes and ears are better than just one.
The Paralegals - Tia Morris is our Intake Paralegal. She screens new cases, sets up files, and gets the cases off the ground. Then she is out of the loop.
Diane Davis and Dauna Butte take over for her around Day 7-14. Diane's sole job is to help you communicate with the Attorneys. She is your primary contact.
Dauna Butte is our Practice Manager. She is the equivalent of Air Traffic Control at Chicago O'Hare Airport. She is personally responsible for every single court date and office appointment. She regulates every 15 minutes of the workday for each of the Attorneys. She has to forecast what time every court appearance and office appointment will end to make sure we have Attorney coverage for everything. She books over 4,000 court dates and office appointments each year.
Private Investigator - our Investigator also acts as a resource for us. Normally, criminal defense lawyers do not use a P.I. except on major crimes. We use him on practically every case. At a minimum, he can interview the client and give the Attorneys a candid and fresh approach to your case. Also, he can run background checks on prosecution witnesses (if any), surveillance on our major felonies, and interview any witnesses you have that you want us to contact.
