Franklin County Municipal Court Arraignment Courtroom 4C

375 S. High Street, 4^th Floor, Courtroom 4C

The Franklin County Municipal Court, 375 S. High St, Columbus, Ohio, is between Mound St. and Fulton just north of I-70.  It is highly recommended that you MapQuest or Googlemap the court to make sure you know how to get there and where to park.

Koffel & Jump has the following advice to our clients who are scheduled to be arraigned in Municipal Court for a DUI.

WHAT TO EXPECT:  “4C” is the 5^th busiest courtroom in America. It processes more cases per year than every other courtroom except four.  Things move very slowly until your case is called. Then, things move very quickly.  We have represented nearly 8,000 people in this specific courtroom (“The Arraignment Courtroom”) since 1993.  We know every single judge and every single prosecutor and work in this courtroom on a daily basis.   . 

APPEARING BEFORE A JUDGE:  It is quite likely that you will have to personally appear before the judge.  For our clients, we do all the planning, thinking, and talking.    

WHAT TO BRING:  We recommend that our clients bring their cell phone so we can call or text them with any last minute information.  Also, always bring your current insurance card and the insurance card covering the vehicle you were driving when you were stopped.  Do not bring children under the age of 18 to court.

PARKING:  It is highly recommended that you get a ride to court and that you get dropped off.  Let your driver park and then meet you in court.  We do not recommend that you drive yourself to court especially if you are under a license suspension.   Try to park on a surface lost near the court, in the City Center parking garage, or you can try the parking garage just east of the court.  It does take about 15 minutes from parking to reach courtroom 4C. Please factor that into your timing. It is not uncommon for clients to be in court 2 – 2/ ½ hours, especially on busy days.

SECURITY: Upon entering the courthouse complex, proceed to the 375 building (Municipal Court) on the south end of the atrium.  There are many security entrances and lines move quickly.  Make sure you do not bring anything to court that you do not want confiscated.  Please remember that you and your belongings are subject to search.

ELEVATORS:  The elevator bank is located just to the left as you pass through security entering 375.  You can ask any of the uniformed security officers for directions (all of them are quite helpful and cordial).  Tell them you are going to “4C” and they will know where you need to be.  Upon entering the elevator, you will be going to the 4^th floor. 

4^th FLOOR HALLWAY:  Once you exit the elevators, turn right and walk to the front hallway.  Find a place to sit.  We are in this courtroom every day and have been since 1993.  We normally arrive around 9:00 a.m.  For our clients, we will check them in and do all the work that needs to get done.

ATTIRE:  Wear clothing that you are comfortable wearing. If you wear suits or business casual, then wear that. If you wear casual clothing daily, then wear that.  But, do not wear jeans, hats, shorts, sweatshirts, piercings (other than earrings for women) or tennis shoes. 

LAWYERS / CASE EVALUATION:    We assign one of our lawyers to each case when a request for representation call is made to our office.  The decision on which attorney to assign is primarily driven by each lawyers current case load and the county in which the arrest occurred.  Also, we do try to honor direct referrals to Mr. Koffel, Mr. Fox, and Mr. Brininger.  However, our lawyers will decide which one is best suited to once the lawyers review your case, they will advise you of how best to proceed from this day forward. 

FINGERPRINTING: If you were not fingerprinted at the police department, then you will be court-ordered to do so after court.  We will address this with you on your court date.
