Bradley P. Koffel
Bradley P.
Koffel, 40, is the Managing Partner of the DUI / Criminal
Defense Practice Group. Mr. Koffel has been selected by his peers for
inclusion in "Best Lawyers in America".
Since its inception in 1983, Best Lawyers has become
universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence.
Because Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review
survey in which more than 25,000 leading attorneys cast almost two
million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their
specialties, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a
fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a
singular honor. Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best
Lawyers “the most respected referral list of attorneys in
practice.”
Also, Mr. Koffel was recently named as one of Ohio's "Top
Lawyers Under 40" by Ohio Super Lawyers.
Mr. Koffel is a frequent lecturer around Ohio at Continuing Legal Education Seminars for other lawyers and judges. He has represented over 7,000 people charged with crimes in Ohio -- primarily alcohol and drug-related offenses. Mr. Koffel has been lead counsel in jury trials in nearly every greater central Ohio county. He has argued dozens of appeals in 1/3 of Ohio's appellate courts. The majority of the legal research and writing is done exclusively by Mr. Koffel.
Mr. Koffel has been quoted in USA Today, CNN, Fox News, ABC News, CBS News, the Washington Post, L.A. Times, New York Newsday, Miami Herald, Forbes, the Boston Globe, as well as every major Ohio newspaper from the Columbus Dispatch and Dayton Daily News to the Akron Beacon Journal and the Toledo Blade. Local ABC, CBS, and NBC television affiliates frequently request interviews for stories.
Mr. Koffel has significant experience in representing high profile individuals charged with DUI , Drug / Alcohol Crimes, and non-violent Felonies as well as the personal sensitivities associated with these cases. Mr. Koffel has represented dozens of local lawyers as well as many doctors, executives and other professionals.
As evidence of how wide ranging his Client List is, he has been asked to defend professional athletes, elected officials, publicly visible civic leaders; and, executive officers of publicly traded companies. However, Mr. Koffel's client arrests rarely reach the media outlets and client secrecy is of paramount importance.
Also, Mr. Koffel has a special part of his practice devoted
exclusively to working with adolescents and young adults facing their
first, second, or even third substance abuse arrest. Many times these
young people are simply learning that they have pre-existing mental
health or behavioral issues that result in drugs and alcohol being used
to "self medicate".
As the Managing Partner of the Criminal Defense / DUI Group, Brad meets nearly every client, oversees the progress of the case, remains available for ongoing office consultations, does nearly all the legal research and writing for the practice, and assists the other attorneys and staff on delivering the legal services to each client. In essence, Brad is "plugged into" the practice on a daily basis.
Brad is a graduate of Miami University and Capital Law School. He lives in Upper Arlington with his wife, Michelle, and 4 children. Brad and Michelle are actively involved in various volunteer and charitable causes around Columbus supporting the needs of children. Brad serves on the Board of Directors for Columbus Speech & Hearing.
