Memorial Tournament DUI Enforcement

Based upon past experience, we expect to see significantly increased DUI enforcement in the 5 mile radius surrounding Muirfield Village Golf Club. Clearly, this is one of Central Ohio's largest social gatherings and corporate entertaining. It is advisable not to consume any alcohol and operate a vehicle while in this area from 05-31-06 to 06-04-06. Law enforcement will have an extremely low decision point to arrest.
Dear Mr Koffel, I am very greatfull to have came upon your site. The information and topics discussed are great. I am a repeat offender having struggled with alcohol addiction since the age of 14 ( now 31 ). I have had several DUIs in the past in which I am not at all proud of. I live in Licking County and I was stopped 2-3-07 and charged with dui again. I am a painting contractor in Heath, Oh, and most of the patrolman in the area have seen if not pulled over one of my trucks for something. What really stinks about the whole thing in this area it seems if you drive a vehicle that makes you look to be a contractor watch out or drive your family car after dark. If not your gonna get stopped.Another thing I went to the municipal court today to get a copy of the officers report pertaining to my stop on 2-3-07 and could not believe what was stated I had said and did. First of all I did not drink at all that. But it seems that the officer covered all his basis after I told him I would fighting this in court ( he stated every thing from I failed the eye test I could not hold my balance I walked into a wall at the station almost missed the chair, all and when he spoke to me I told him his voice was echoeing. Give me a break. I have been in recovery for 3yrs and looking back on all of partying I have done I have never been as trashed as he has stated in his report. I have come to find that in Licking County your just better to go to court plead guilty and get it over with. Which really sucks because I have been trying so hard and succeeding in staying sober by going to aa and counceling paid for by myself ( not court ordered ) just to be in this position once again. Its seems the officers in this area can put anything in there report to get a conviction. And if you take and try your case your givin the option, win your case or get the max. I personally have back down when told by my previous lawyers to plead guilty get 30 days or lose get 6 months.I have had 4 duis since 1993 so with my record taking this 1 to trial doesnt look good. I just wish juges understood that alcoholism is a disease and putting someone in jail forever is not the answer. Good treatment is the answer. I found that out on my own by seeking treatment for my problem with people who also want to get sober. Not some court ordered thing that the judge sends everyone to that really dont want to be there is there.
